What is a PACE?

PACEs

PACE is an acronym for Packet of Accelerated Christian Education. These are bite-size booklets that replace conventional-style textbooks. PACEs are private property and are not to be shared among students. After completing each PACE, a student will complete a test on it the following morning. Test results will be made available the following school day along with a new PACE. If a student does not pass the test on a PACE, the student will be issued a repeat PACE. Work in PACEs is done in pencil only. Calculators are permitted in the Learning Center only at the Supervisor’s discretion. In most cases, calculators will be permitted only for students in Math PACE 1075 and above.

PACE Academic Load

Twelve (12) PACEs in a subject are the equivalent of one year’s work. If a student is completing 12 PACEs in a year, the student is making average progress. If a student completes less than 12 PACEs a year, and if a student is working at or below grade level, the student is either moving at a slower pace or falling behind. If a student completes more than 12 PACEs in a year, the student is progressing at a quicker rate.

Homework

The responsibility for scholastic achievement is placed on the student. Most students will not need to take academic work home. The goals set by the student and reviewed by the Supervisor usually are no more than the student is capable of completing during the school day. Should the student not meet their goals for that day, the student will be required, at the discretion of the Supervisor, to complete the work at home. Should the student have homework, a Homework Slip is sent home, giving the pages to be completed. The slip is to be signed by the parent and returned the following day. No resource books may be taken home.
